WHO WE ARE:
The Bockus homestead was carved by horsepower out of Northwestern Ontario's
rugged Boreal forest.
Diana Bockus.
Her preserves of home-grown vegetables, fruit and berries are legendary all around
the neighbourhood, as is her home cooking. "We eat what we grow off the
land" she states with some pride, and she will invite you to stroll around
her orchards, berry and vegetable beds.
And if you feel like it, you can lend a hand in the garden or with canning (in
season).
Larry and Diana
Larry Bockus owns
a team of work horses that he uses daily. In fact, they are an essential
part of the ways the Bockuses do their farming. It is an all but forgotten
art that Larry proudly carries on, and which he is more than happy to show
and teach others.
The farm itself is surrounded by 5 kilometers of winding trails inviting
you for a summer walk or winter skiing. It's nesteld on the edge of endless
crown land, home to fox, moose, dear, bear and eagles. The farm is home to
horses, pigs, chickens, two dogs, and a cat.
The clean fresh air will make you sleep like a baby, but don't turn in
until you've witnessed the vast expanse of the starry night sky - and in
season, the majestic Northern lights.
